Preparations for raid as a machinist begins like it would for any other job. You wake up. You polish your guns. You gear up. Yet, lately it seems that every time you open your glamour dresser, you’re confronted with nothing but flamboyant hats, frilly coats, and a surplus of colored tights. That may be great for the aiming counterparts of bard and dancer, but a machinist? What happened to the “machine” in machinist? Today we’re going to put a bit of edge back into our newly re-vamped ranged DPS hailing from Ishgard: the Machinist.

As many are aware, the machinist went through a huge overhaul, much like the dark knight, and what an overhaul it was! You now weave in your global cooldowns with your off-global cool downs, including iconic moves such as Air Anchor, Bio Blaster, Auto Crossbow, and Drill made famous by Edgar Roni Figaro, the King of Figaro in Final Fantasy VI. The machinist is nothing short of a damage monster in the DPS world, it’s only right they equally dominate in the glamour world as well.

Now, let’s move on to the items! The items presented to the player in this expansion are very bard and dancer focused, with many repaints of previous gear. When we think of a machinist, also known as “Chief,” “Engineer,” “Gadgeteer,” or “Tinker” in other Final Fantasy titles, we also think of characters like Cid Pollendina, Edgar Roni Figaro, Mustadio, Balthier, and Moogles!Yes, Moogles. Perhaps to a vast majority of players this may not not be an issue; but there is at least one player out there that simply had enough of fancy and frilly and took it upon himself to create machinist glamour’s that depicted what he believed represented a mechanic, automaton loving machinist.
