For years we have been heralded as the Warrior of Light- adventurers chosen by Hydaelyn to be a beacon of hope during these dark and perilous times. We have saved Ul’dah from corrupt politicians. We rewrote the history and repaired the bonds between dragons and men. We broke the chains of captivity across nations and showed the Garleans we weren’t to be trifled with. We headlined an expertly choreographed flash mob on the streets of Kugane with Eorzea’s most well-known inspector. In all ways, shapes, and forms- we were a star. A brilliant and blinding, bright embodiment of all that is good in this world.  

At least on our star.

But times are changing. We are changing. Where there is darkness, there must be light… and in a world where there is only light, it falls to us to restore the darkness. What better way to shed our previous title and make a grand entrance in some killer cutscenes as a Warrior of Darkness than with a shiny, new glam?

I asked several of our staffers here at Aetherflow Media to share what their Warriors of Darkness will be wearing on launch day. Being an edgelord is no longer a title specifically reserved for dark knights. Now is a time for everyone- even those “goody two-shoes” white mages- to step out in something a little darker, perhaps even sinister looking to celebrate the launch of what will hopefully be a really cool expansion.

Queue up your heavy metal music, folks. We’re about to cast our fashionable shadows on The First.
